The students of Pandit Prathmik Shaala – Yeoor came down to Singhania School with zeal and enthusiasm to learn something new. The Sulonians of ISC section and Junior section were actively involved in teaching the Yeoor kids. ICT remains on the favourite part in learning for Yeoor kids and they always look forward towards this session. The Yeoor kids enjoyed working on the computers which enabled them to learn paint, tux paint etc. The puppet show done by the Junior section enabled the students to learn new words and also the story explained by the Sulonians. They spent a wonderful day learning and gaining knowledge.

The students of Pandit Prathmik Shaala came in with excitement to learn something new at Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School. They had great learning experience with the Sulonian ISC students. They learnt Art by drawing and shading different patterns, visited the science lab and learnt about the internal parts of the body and its importance. They learnt Marathi language and spent time reading the passages. It was fun for the students of Singhania School as well as Pandit Prathmik Shaala.

The students of Pandit Prathmik Shaala came in with excitement to visit the Book Exhibition held in Singhania School. They had a great learning experience and gained knowledge by visiting the Museum on Wheels. The Ocean of books blinded their eyes and opened their hearts towards learning. Few students tried reading out the title of the books. They also paid a visit to the first Photography exhibition displayed by the Mass media students and expressed their happiness. The cookery session was another hands-on experience for them. The students enjoyed the new learning experience with complete enthusiasm.

The first session for the Year 2019 began with Saraswati Vandana, wherein the children bowed down to the goddess of knowledge. After seeking her blessings, the students of Pandit Prathmik Shaala spent time learning a new patriotic song. The students of Singhania School from Junior section and Senior section eagerly participated in lending a helping hand to make the Yeoor kids read in English. They also had a wonderful session learning and teaching Tux paint in the ICT lab. Both the Yeoor kids and Singhania students had a wonderful time learning new concepts in the school. The Singhania students felt heart filled to tutor the Yeoor kids and were happy to see the smile on their face.

The students of Pandit Prathamik Shaala came to Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School on 27th July 2019 with enthusiasm and excitement. Nine students of standard 8th volunteered to help the students of Pandit Prathamik Shaala. They had a Music period, Story Reading activity and ICT period. Living the school Anthem is a very Sulonian dream. And what better day to do this than on the Indian Republic Day. Over the entire month of January 2020, Sulonians across school came together to collect cycles for a social cause. These cycles reached their destination - The Warli Pada in the Sanjay Gandhi National Forest Reserve area. The Cycle Donation Drive has empowered and enabled mobility for this tribal community. As the members of the Warli community received these cycles their faces lit up. It seemed as if their dreams now got a set of wheels. Sulonians truly lived the School Anthem today. "Padh likh-kar gyaani ban-ne se pehle, hum insaan banenge..."

As a part of Social Outreach project – The Cosy Quilt Project was done by grade VIII students. The project involved collecting sarees and blankets and getting it stitched into a quilt. These quilts turned out to be cosy and useful for the elderly grandfathers and grandmothers at an old age home. The students of Singhania School along with Director Education and Principal Mrs Revathi Srinivasan, parents and their mentor teachers covered these senior citizens with love by spreading the blankets. They sought blessings from them and returned back with memorable hours spent with these elderly people.

A HIDDEN TREASURE IN FLORAL WASTE - INTERNATIONAL CHANGEMAKER OLYMPIAD Floral waste has a tremendous unexploited potential hidden in it. In a festive country like India we use flowers for every occasion... be it Ganpati puja, Chaitra Navratri or Diwali. Flowers are also needed for decoration at weddings, any function, event or even in mourning. Flowers form an integral part of the activities and worship. Yet their disposal is posing to be a big ecological hazard. They are usually flung into the local water bodies or rivers, polluting the water and causing irreversible damage to the environment. Students of std 8 had taken a drive to collect the used flowers from their society and from pandals during festival time and had put them in a pit to change those flowers into compost. This compost can be given to the society from where the flowers were collected to be used as the manure in their society gardens. This is an environment-friendly activity which will not only protect aquatic life forms and will also help to grow more for mankind.

Hawkers all around keep on complaining that people do not get cloth bags while they come for their grocery or vegetable shopping. That is the reason that in spite of the plastic ban they have gone back to the use of plastic bags. The students of std 8 had taken an initiative to make cloth bags themselves out of the faded pillow covers and distribute to the nearby vegetable vendors and grocery stores. This will create awareness in the society of not only making the best out of waste but also to be a part to save mother nature. Hand Bag Project by Std. 8

'Giving’ is more joyful than ‘getting.’ All of us, at some time or another, have had an extra pair of shoes which are no longer in use. Why not donate it to our fellow friends who are not able to afford them. This was the thought that gave birth to Happy Feet. Students of Std. 9 planned for collection of old shoes, in decent condition and giving them to the lesser privileged children. Many children in the tribal and rural areas suffer from corns, cracked feet, infections on the foot, and injuries as they cannot afford footwear. Shoes were collected from across the school and the numbers were overwhelming. The collected shoes were given away to various orphanages and NGOs. The initiative of grade 9 brought a smile to many this Diwali.

Everybody has used toys at some point in lives. They not only give the joy of play but also serve educational purposes, be it at a young age or even when children grow up. Most of the people around have grown up in an environment, where most of their wishes come true. Thus, the students of grade 9, wanted to make many other children’s desire of playing with toys come true. Toys are an integral part of anyone’s childhood and everyone has used their toys to the fullest and now the heart and closets are full. The students of grade 9, have taken up the initiative of ‘Toys for Joy’ on account of 'International Changemakers Olympiad', driving students to make a change for the better in society. The joy of giving to others spreads a smile on the faces of the receivers as well as the donors. The Std. 9 students urged to all the students from classes KG to Grade 4 to donate their old toys, which are in good and reusable condition, to schools and orphanages so that we can give them the same joy that we received while playing with our toys. The response of the students was staggering as many students happily gave away their toys.

Menstrual hygiene project, an initiative by students of class 11 aims at educating young girls about myths, dos and don’ts about Menstrual hygiene. Bathing soaps, detergent soaps, sanitary pads and hand towels are collected from students and sanitary kits are made. There sanitary kits were distributed to needy girls. A session with doctor parents was also conducted for the girls.

Ethical learning is a program conducted by students of Class 11 for grades 1 – 7. Where by conducting different activities they teach them the importance of moral values in todays times. They conduct various activities for the students which the students carry back home which conveys the ethical value they learnt for the day. The students enjoy listening to the stories and interact and participate in the discussion carried out after the activity.

Students of Standard 7 worked on the project “SUJALAM SUPHALAM”. The students aim to save water by sensitizing communities around us. Water being a precious resource is often taken for granted in bigger cities. The group aims to talk to residents of a society and fellow Sulonians to create awareness about the significance of water. Simple methods of avoiding leakage, bucket bath, bottle in flush tank, no wash only wipe and no running water are suggested. Responsible citizenship and healthy living values should be the outcome of the project for a sustainable planet.

Raymond Vocational Educational Centre (RVEC)

Echoing these very words from the School song " Padh likh kar gyaani banne se pehle hum insaan banenge", ‘Project Roti Bank’ was flagged off by the children of Sr.KG on 26th July this year. ‘Anna Daan’, considered as the noblest deed, received wholehearted support from the little ones as they happily contributed ‘Rotis’ towards this project. The spirit of love and empathy towards the underprivileged, kindled in their minds at this tender age, will go a long way in shaping them into better humans for a better tomorrow!

The greatest blessings one receives is when one helps his fellow being by providing him with his prime need ... Food. All religions teach us to share. When we share not only do we bring happiness to another soul but all to ourselves. We are lucky if we are able to share a meal with another. This is the greatest 'punya' one can have . On the 15th November the Roti Bank Project - Phase 2 was rolled out for grade 9. Children brought chapatis nicely wrapped . The collection was made early morning and sent to the assigned center.

RYPEN : Paving the path to a bright future, one step at a time. The first RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) session for the year 2020 – 21 was held on the 5th of October, using the virtual platform. The inspiring session was conducted by Dr. L. Kasat, a consultant, paediatric and neonatal surgeon practising with some of the leading hospitals in Thane. The session centered around the topic "Incredible accounts of obscure Indians and obscure accounts of Incredible Indians" which provided valuable insights into the lives of some of the great men of India and their immense contribution to the growth and development of the nation.

The Rotary Interact Club Sulonia Premium Installation ceremony was held on 29th July 2019 under the aegis of Rotary Club of Thane During this ceremony, the president of the past session passed on the baton to the current president Ms. Mihika for the next session. The ceremony started with the National Anthem. The outgoing President, Ms Beli Dedhia highlighted the Interact Club’s achievements in all community and social service activities like blood donation, cycle donation, visit to Premdaan etc. The new interactors of the club for 2019-20 were then decorated with Rotary pins. The Principal and Director of education Ms Revathi Srinivasan inspired the students to be more inclined towards serving the society for a better future. Dr. Supriya Chincholkar thanked the members of Rotary Club. She also motivated the students to work diligently towards the betterment of the community, to actively participate in social service programs and to devote more time towards constructive leadership and personal integrity.

The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intentions. Small acts with great love are as important as great acts. As a part of interact club students of Std std 8 visited Vatsalya Old age home at Sanpada on October 5th, 2019. The charitable home has around 17 residents. Students spent quality time with the inmates by conducting various activities like singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, applying henna etc. The elderly were overjoyed to see children investing time and efforts to bring a smile on their faces. This was a good opportunity to inculcate humanity in the students and to provide a great life experience.
