29th National Children Science Congress - State Level

Hridayam Pathak and Anushka Nimbalkar of Std 5 participated in National Children’s Science Congress. They had been selected for the State Level Junior scientist NCSC 2021-22. There were 5000 applications from all over Maharashtra and out of those 100 project teams had qualified for the next level and Hridayam and Anushka were one of those teams.
Their project was to show that just by harvesting 4 seeds of 4 different plants each day any person can have a sustainable living anywhere in the world. Their teacher guided them throughout the process.
The efforts taken by the children were recognised by one and all. The team of Hridayam and Anushka were able to give their best under the able guidance of their teachers. The parents thanked all the teachers and the school for giving them the platform to showcase their talent.

The 41st Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica–Dr Ankush Deshmukh.

Our former school captain and alumni, Dr. Ankush Deshmukh is selected as the Medical Officer for the 41st Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica. He will be staying in Antarctica for the entire duration of the expedition (14-16months) including spending the winter there. His primary role will be as the emergency doctor of the team but will also be assisting the scientists in their experiments and other logistics.

Heartiest congratulations to Dr Deshmukh for such an honour and inspiring the younger generation to keep their hopes high and focus on their goals. Best wishes to Dr. Deshmukh on his wonderful journey and a great achievement.

A course in Remote Sensing and GIS for Environmental studies by IIRS Dehradun.

Online Summer School course on Usefulness of Remote Sensing and GIS for Environmental Studies was conducted by Indian Institute Of Remote Sensing ,IIRS and ISRO , Dehradun, under the Indian department of Space , from 26th July 2021 to 30th July 2021 , for the students of class 10.

The interactive session in the form of quiz , live sessions of experienced Scientists and students' active participation made the topic more interesting than it already is .

Heartiest Congratulations to Prutha Pol, from Class 2, who stood 2nd internationally in the Unicus General Knowledge Olympiad. These Olympiads encourage students and to test their ability to critically analyze and comprehend the core principles of the subject. Such competitive exams have helped her shape her confidence and personality. . Wishing Prutha many more glories on this journey!

Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) in association with Indian Institute of Knowledge (IIK) had organised a Mega Science Exhibition which showcased exciting and innovative audio visual science experiments .

The GMRT Science Day was celebrated online this year.There were 900+ videos of innovative projects from 330+ schools and colleges spread across 9 states and union territories all over India.

Young Innovators Miss Suhani Surana from ISC section and Miss Suvarnagauri Kalbag from SENIOR SECTION were among the five final winners of this talent program.

The Lenovo Smarter Ed Scholarship programme, an initiative by Hindustan Times , is an endeavour that aims to enable and empower young minds to have the best learning experience. Miss Ishwari Sogale , a student of class 8 has been declared a winner of the Lenovo Smarter Ed Scholarship programme 2021. She is one among the fourteen students from class 8 who won this prestigious competition all over India .

The students of Std 6,7 and 8 bagged laurels in the prestigious Ramanujan Scholarship conducted by Countingwell.

1) Anay Tushar Somani from 6B is among the top 9 in the country and has secured a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- .
2) 11 students of class 6 have secured the 1 st runners up position. Arnav Bhandari, Palash Dhaval Mundada, Siya Ashish Daga, Aksh Bharkatiya, Advay Milind Rane, Dhairya Kundan Suryarao, Ayush, Aarush Jain, Akhil Kumar, Aayush Sagwekar, Akshdha Sharma.

STEM Research and Innovation successfully conducted the National Astronomy Challenge in India and across the Globe during this year. The NAC (National Astronomy Challenge) was created to develop interest and competitiveness among the young generation towards the 21st century domains of astronomy and space.
We are glad to announce that our participants from grade 4th to grade 9th have done extremely well in the NATIONAL ASTRONOMY CHALLENGE OLYMPIAD.
Hearty Congratulations to the top participant Ashmit Alokkumar Sahoo for securing the position of NATIONAL CHAMPION with the highest percentile of 100% and standing FIRST among the Grade 7 students internationally. Project: A Greener Way to a Cleaner Day

Aishwarya was working on the Project “A Greener Way to a Cleaner Day” which comes under the category Traditional knowledge system for sustainable living. She used scientific observation, experimentation, research, google surveys and email interviews to study the harmful impacts of chemicals present in the household cleaning products on our health and environment . On the basis of her research, she suggested eco-friendly alternatives like Soapnuts (Reeta), white vinegar, etc. as a viable alternative to chemical detergents and floor cleaners.

Projects: Tea Tablets/ Nuggets
TEA is a very popular beverage in India consumed multiple times at home, office, outdoors and during travel. Tea Kits are extensively used across India to prepare instant Tea.
Tea Kits contain milk powder, sugar & tea dips packed in multi-layer plastic pouches. These pouches on use are not disposed properly & pollute the environment. The contents also often spill during use, resulting in wastage ; attract insects like flies which being carriers result in spread of infectious diseases.
Product ‘Tea Tablets’ made by Rujuta and Rutuja using knowledge of traditional Indian cooking systems (used in making sweets) is completely consumable, environment friendly and hygienic alternative to instant Tea making kits. Heartiest Congratulations to Rujuta Joshi and Rutuja Nene for their tremendous achievement.
Advay Deo was working on the theme: Science for Sustainable Living.
Sub theme: Appropriate technology for sustainable living. Project: Workplace Extends, Environment Sustains In the lockdown the pollution levels were quite low. It was because of the reduction of vehicles on the road. Most of these were of office goers commuting to their workplaces. Advay's conceptual model “Workplace in A Box” aims to deliver the core and non-core functions of offices anytime, anywhere with convenience. It also tackles the stress problems through AI based monitoring, consultation and fake commute. The social interaction problems have been addressed by features like recreation centres and online café facilities. Thus, it makes sure that the working system is employer - employee friendly as well win-win situation for the environment and human beings.

28th National Children's Science Congress, 2021

Heartiest congratulations to Master Akshat Sandeep Samsi, Std 8,, who has won the coveted ASSET Talent Scholar Gold Award 2020-21 held online on 20th October, 2020. He is ranked among the Top 50 in India and Top 10 in the City.
Winners of Asset Talent Scholar gold get an opportunity to participate in residential programs for gifted kids in Manipal University and International Universities like Purdue, Northwestern, UC Berkeley and others. We wish Akshat success in this glorious journey of Knowledge .

It is an immense pleasure to congratulate Master Akshat Deshmukh of Std. 9 J for securing FIRST position in ‘Ask a scientist competition’ in Category 2 organised by IITM-ENVIS, Pune.

The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune conducted various competitions for students across the country on the occasion of the World Ozone Day 2020. It’s a matter of extreme pride for us to announce that Sunishka Deb of Std 5 has bagged the 2 nd place in the essay writing competition. Sunishka’s essay was well appreciated by the esteemed panel and we take this opportunity to congratulate her on this fabulous achievement of hers.

The students of Singhania School actively participated in various social outreach activities, whole heartedly and with complete passion. The students participated in the International Changemaker Olympiad (ICO). The aim of the projects chosen by the students were not to win any accolade but to sensitize themselves towards the society which they haven’t experienced or seen before. All the projects won hearts of the judges and received special appreciation. The project "Happy Feet" won a special award -"Social Impact Award". The effort put in by each and every student is highly appreciable and commendable. We wish each and every student our heartfelt appreciation for reaching out to the unreached.

Xavier Institute of Management And Entrepreneurship (XIME), Bangalore, (MARK-XIME) conducted an online Adverte-Poster Making Competiton on 20th of April, 2020.
The Sulonian Team "Lockdown Fighters" comprising of Deep Desai of Std. 10 and Jash Pasad of Std. 9 bagged the first place and were declared the official winners of the Adverte Challenge.

Shresht Bhat, a student of Smt Sulochanadevi Singhania School from class 6 - F, recently won the following accolades :

1. He has secured Second rank All India in the prestigious Bhaskaracharya Pratishthana mathematics examination (BMTSC 2019) held on 1st December 2019.
2. He is ranked 1st (School topper) for NSTSE 2020.

He has also achieved the following -

1. Junior Math Olympiad (JMO), All India Rank 3 (Grade 5 and 6 combined) for 2019. Won the Ramanujam Gold medal for excellence in Mathematics.
2. IPM Mega Final 2nd all India for grade 4 (the year 2018)
3. High Distinction certificate from Enigma Mathematics (Australian Mathematics Trust) in grade 3 (2016).

Shresht has also been qualified and accepted into the prestigious math camp for highly gifted math children Epsilon India for the summer of 2020. Epsilon is a prestigious and well-known math camp based in the US and caters to children of ages 9 to 12 who are gifted in mathematics. Epsilon India has opened up its first camp and will be conducting a 2-week residential math camp in Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth, Veliyanad, Kerala.

Our ISC students of STD 12 participated in Java Programming Contest hosted by The Cathedral and John Connon School on 23rd November 2019. The purpose of this competition was to allow the students to showcase and enhance their programming skills. The Singhania students met all the challenges thrown in the competition by writing creative and efficient Java programs. They were tested individually as well as a team. They secured first place in the competition!

The South Indian Education Society in collaboration with the highly renowned organisation ISRO had conducted several competitions on 18th and 19th September 2019. It was based on Space Technology and Education.

On the 30th of September at The Leela Hotel , six champion teams locked horns for the title of National Insurance Champions in the final round of the HDFC ERGO Insurance Awareness Quiz, 2019. Teams from six cities - Mumbai, Jaipur, Kochi, Guwahati, New Delhi and Bengaluru battled it out at the one and only platform to show their prowess at insurance. Finishing at second place as the runners up, the Sulonian name shone once again thus proving their mettle beyond academics as well in the abstract field of insurance.

A proud moment indeed as Sulonians Rohit Patil & Mridul Adukia from std. 4 won the Trophy in International Abacus Competition held at Cambodia on 28th July 2019.
Rohit Patil received the Championship Trophy while Mridul Adukia bagged the 1st Prize.
The International competition is conducted by AIAMA (ABACUSKING INTERNATIONAL ABACUS MENTAL-ARITHMETIC ALLIANCE). The participating countries were India, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Malaysia and many others.

Scintillating young Sulonians were felicitated on 30th June 2019 for their achievements in the National Children Science Congress (NCSC) - Summer Project.
With this Summer Project the students optimally utilised their vacation time. They thoroughly enjoyed the process while gaining valuable experience and knowledge. The projects included a vast variety of topics like - far reaching environmental impacts of improperly disposed latex gloves, the problem of oil wastage in temples, analysing the effects of food wastage. The Summer Project offered an excellent opportunity to instill critical thinking in the students.
Congratulations to all the students for the outstanding success they achieved with their incredibly productive work in The Summer Project.

Kavya Venkatesh and Srilaxmii Ramratthinam, students of Class 10, were awarded the Best Team award in the Preliminary Round of the Annual ICSE Frank Anthony Debate Competition 2019. The event was conducted at Lodha World School, Palava on 11 July 2019. The debate had participants from 13 schools across Mumbai. The motion upon the floor was ‘Education Fosters Democracy’, which was discussed in depth by speakers for and against the topic. Frank Anthony Debate Competition

Kavya Venkatesh, a student of class 10 has successfully completed the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification in Word 2016. The top 200 students across India were felicitated in an award ceremony held in Hyatt, Pune on May 25, 2019.

The All ICSE Schools of Maharashtra (AISM) DEBATE COMPETITION 2019 was held in Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, Thane, on the 1st of August.
It was the venue for both ICSE as well as ISC. There were over 60 schools participating in the Senior and Junior Categories. The topic for the ICSE pupils was in essence with the present time, That ‘Country is the richest which has the maximum number of happy people’. The topic for the ISC was ‘Humanity should fear the advancement of artificial intelligence’. There were certificates for the Best Speaker (For), the Best Speaker (Against), and the Best Team. The Best Speakers FOR and AGAINST will represent Maharashtra in all India Finals.
Tejomay Hiremath won the Best Speaker (For) in the ICSE.
THE SINGHANIA team of Tejomay Hiremath and Navya Shetty won the Best Team.
